Introducing ... KeyPulp!
As we teased on Twitter yesterday and revealed to Technically Philly this morning, January 31 is not the last you'll be seeing of the Phillyist editors and staff. True, Phillyist won't be updated after 5:00 p.m. next Monday, but, as that song we got stuck in your heads last week goes: "every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end."
So, from the ashes of Phillyist rises a Phoenix we're pretty damn excited about: KeyPulp, a new, fully independent blog that we five Phillyist editors—and several Phillyist staffers—will be launching within the next six weeks. It's only a splash page for now, but when we go live, KeyPulp will be a nationally-focused arts and lifestyle blog with more than a little Philly flavor. This new site will cover events and entertainment, music, food and drink, celebrity gossip, and hot topics. From casting rumors, to interviews with bands, to theatre reviews, we'll be covering all culture that is, or might someday be, pop.
We know you're dying to ask: what's with the name? Well, the "key" is Ben Franklin's—the object he used in his most famous experiment, yes, but also the ethos with which he approached his own writing and reporting. "Pulp" is also a nod to our boy Ben, as it's an essential part of the paper-making process, and Ben was a printer long before he was a writer.
We'll have more information in the coming weeks on Twitter, so be sure to follow @keypulp for updates. And if you're interested in writing for the site, shoot an email to editors@keypulp.com.
