- Police arrested a man believed to be the Kensington Strangler last night. Twenty-two–year-old Antonio Rodriguez was brought into the homicide unit yesterday after his DNA was linked to the crimes via a police database. Rodriguez had previously served time in prison on a felony drug charge and had been released on August 29, 2010. [Philadelphia Inquirer]
- Volunteers spent the day yesterday preparing new classrooms for students of the Global Leadership Academy Charter School, which burned down a week ago. The students will attend school in an old school building at 59th Street and Baltimore Avenue. The school hopes to open a new building in September. [ABC]
- Uh, we guess friends don't let other friends eat their cake. A man shot his friend in the chest yesterday morning, because the friend was eating his cake. The shot man is in critical condition at Hahnemann Hospital. Police are still looking for the shooter. [NBC]
