- The Sony plant in southern New Jersey is closing. Roughly 300 employees will lose their jobs as a result. [NBC Philadelphia]
- Pennsylvania Governor-elect Tom Corbett has selected Ronald Tomalis as the head of the Department of Education. Tomalis previously managed the implementation of the No Child Left Behind act, among other things. [FOX 29]
- The city is pushing students to apply for college financial aid. That is fantastic; it might also want to focus on having more than fifty-percent of its students graduate, too, though. [Philadelphia Inquirer]
