Birds have been making headlines recently and we're not talking about the Eagles. The excitement began on December 30th when a hawk decided to give locals a lesson in survival of the fittest at 8th and Market st. Pausing occasionally for photos, the bird of prey turned one lucky person's SUV into its' own personal lunch table leaving behind blood soaked feathers and a pigeon head.

The winged ones made the news again on New Year's Eve when thousands of birds dropped dead in the streets of Beebe, Arkansas; days later an estimated five hundred were found lifeless in a small town near Baton Rouge, Louisiana. And lets not forget the one hundred birds discovered deceased on a road in Sweden. While Kirk Cameron assures these mass bird deaths are not a sign the world is ending and wildlife officials have determined the deaths were caused by fireworks and power lines, it hasn't stopped conspiracy theorists from coming up with their own ideas.

Finally, the bird news that made the week of many, Rovio released a Mac version of everyone's favorite game, Angry Birds. Available through the new Mac App Store, Rovio promises "unique enhancements" which is sure to meet your bird slinging needs.
